April 30 Updates: Program Openings, Pride and May Day

Good afternoon, friends!

The weather is warmer, but I have been advised not to let it fool me into putting my seedlings into the ground too early. It is, however, in that gorgeous sweet spot for exercising outside which I'm so grateful for.

What else am I grateful for? You. Your support. Whether you're actively participating in a class/ program/one-on-one training, or waiting in the wings for the right time to join in on the action, I am so grateful to have you in my corner.

Here are some updates for you all on this chilly, rainy spring-y day!

Openings in Programs Starting NEXT WEEK

My inaugural Powerlifting 101 group loved it so much that some of them want to continue for another 6 weeks! This group will be meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:30pm in Williamsburg starting next Monday, May 4. This six-week, small-group class will introduce you to and guide you through progressing four powerlifting movements: bench press, deadlift, overhead press, and squat. No experience necessary. There are currently three spots available - snag your seat today! Learn more and register here.

Strength Training Foundations: A small-group, four-week beginner strength training program that will introduce you to basic movements that can be done with bodyweight, resistance bands, dumbbells, kettlebell, barbell, or even a small pet! (Kidding. Or not!) There are two seats left in this class which starts on Monday, May 4, and meets outside on Mondays and Wednesdays 6-7pmLearn more and register here.

Drop-In HIIT Strength Classes on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday

HIIT Strength is a 55-minute class designed to support fun, safe, strength training at all levels. Class starts with a structured warm-up, skill development and mobility, cardio activation, resistance training circuit, then cool-down. Classes are currently scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm and Sundays at 5:30pm at Ripple Studio (49 Main Street) in Williamsburg

Want to give it a try? Buy a single class.

Notes on Hampshire Pride

I will be marching with Queer Joy Chorus in the parade at Hampshire Pride this Saturday (my partner is a member!). Queer Joy Chorus will then be performing at 5pm on the Main Stage, so I will be there then too! Come find me if you want to hang out :)

Notes on May Day

Tomorrow is May Day - a day of ancient significance for welcoming the peak of spring and inviting blessings for a fruitful agricultural season. It is also International Workers Day, in commemoration of the Haymarket Affair in which Chicago workers went on strike in the fight for an 8-hour work day, and many protesters were injured with some killed by police. The theme of this year's May Day commemoration is "Workers Over Billionaires". The call from national organizers is for a general strike - no work, no school, no shopping - to put economic power behind demands to tax the rich, get ICE out, and expand democracy instead of corporate power.

As a small business owner of a very new business that is decidedly not the target of this kind of action, I am choosing to stay open, take the opportunity to share the importance of the day with folks in my community, and express my support for the international workers' rights movement.
